St Mary Magdalene’s Welcome You

img-about

Welcome to St Mary Magdalene Sunderland. The Church is of the Anglo Catholic tradition in the Diocese of Durham and under the Episcopal care of the Bishop of Beverly.

The Parish Priest  Fr Skelton has recently retired (much against his will) following his 70th Birthday. This is required by the regulations approved in the General Synod. We continue to worship in the Catholic Tradition and are looking forward to celebrating our Patronal Festival on the 22nd July 2022, with the Bishop of Wakefield The Right Rev’d Tony Robinson, who has undertaken to have care of us until a new bishop of Beverly is appointed. Please do join us and help us to continue our mission in the Catholic tradition in this wonderful part of the United Kingdom.

Please also take some time to enjoy a virtual tour of the Church and check the times of Masses and other services. On the site you will also find information about the Friends of St Mary Magdalene Sunderland which together with the Parish of St Mary Magdalene, is a registered charity.

In the Church there is a Cell of the Society of Our Lady of Walsingham. A Mass is said on the seventh day of every month (unless otherwise stated in the bulletin) for the work of the Shrine.
